API DELEVAN TO ADD RoHS COMPLIANT PACKAGE TO ITS PRODUCT OFFERING
API Delevan announces that the company will offer products in a Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Compliant package. These API Delevan products meet all current RoHS requirements as described in Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council. These products are also compatible with 260° C soldering.
API Delevan will offer various termination finishes for its RoHS series of products. In general, an “R” letter designator will be added to the current part numbers to indicate RoHS compliance. In advance of the European timeline of July 01, 2006, samples will be available 3Q04, and production orders accepted starting 4Q04.
API Delevan existing catalog part numbers will remain the same & will continue to be available to meet all customers' expectations regarding any specific termination finish requirements.
The Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) was adopted by the European Union with a key provision of the directive stating that from July 1, 2006, new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market shall not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
